I was raised the youngest of eight in a dysfunctional family. I went through physical and verbal abuse growing up which seemed to be the norm in our small town. I got pregnant and married as a teen and went through more physical and verbal abuse from my jealous teen husband. I was able to get out in less than a year later. I became a single mother.
I went to counseling which helped me start to see my self-worth. After many years working in the service industry, I decided to get certified in hypnotherapy to help myself and others retrain our mind to except positive suggestions and let go of the past. After realizing how powerful hypnotherapy is to make change. I decided I needed more education to be able to help and decided to go back to school to become a counselor.
I learned about EMDR when I was in school. The statistics on PTSD and past trauma was amazing so I took the training as soon as I was able. Adaptive information processing is the Theory behind EMDR. I still had triggers from my past. I went to an EMDR counselor and was able to let go of the pain and triggers associated to the trauma. It is now just a sad story without the pain. Even being bullied or picked on by a sibling can create a struck small t trauma that needs to be released. I use techniques from CBT, hypnotherapy, somatic. and ego state therapy to help contain the symptoms until they can be processed with EMDR. I will try to see the world from the client's perspective and process as slow or fast as the client needs. I have tappers and headphones for clients who do not like eye movements.
I Have a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Adam's State University with a 3.84 GPA. I am also a National Certified Counselor. I am EMDR and hypnotherapy trained. I will do my best to help you change how you few yourself.
